Carla Minogue is a seasoned journalist and PR professional with 17 years of experience working in and with media. She has excelled in her career in front of the camera as a television and radio news anchor and reporter, and in the strategy seat helping her clients tell their stories, protect their reputations and build their brands. Today, Carla balances the best of both worlds—delivering dynamic training, strategic counsel and results-drive programs while working casually at CBC Calgary to keep up her journalistic chops.
Carla began her career with CTV Saskatchewan, where she quickly climbed the ranks to become co-anchor of CTV Regina’s flagship noon and 6 o’clock newscasts. In 2010 she moved home to Alberta, joining the CBC Calgary team as a local reporter. Again, she quickly advanced to become the six o’clock anchor and a network/national reporter for programs like The National and The World at Six.
In 2014, Carla joined the Calgary office of the world’s largest public relations firm, Edelman. She soon began leading Calgary’s earned media and media training practices, working with clients from a variety of sectors including energy, pipelines, health care, telecommunications and not-for-profit. She developed, led and executed integrated communications strategies and media training programs, working with team members from across Canada and the United States. Carla then joined the Canadian Energy Pipeline Association where she led media relations and executive communications during a critical time for the pipeline industry.
In late 2020, Carla launched Anchored Communication. Having built strong relationships over the years, she still works with many of her former employers and clients. You may also occasionally hear Carla on CBC Radio filling in as the afternoon news anchor or filing a story as a casual reporter.
Carla has won an IABC Gold Quill and two RTNDA awards for her work. She was born and raised in Cochrane, Alberta where she still lives with her husband and two young children.
